classroom learning management system
(T-CLASS) in the secondary and postsecondary sector (Vetiver et al., in preparation). The T-CLASS is currently in a pilot and final development stage. This system has been developed to provide a set of functionality needed to support the development of coursework (including lectures, tutorials and online discussion forums), assessment, student feedback and career development. Figure 1 shows how some of the new functionality, such as the ability to record audio files or create and store handouts for use in the learning environment, can be easily integrated into existing T-LESS systems.vFig. 1 Some of the new functionality currently being implemented into the T-CLASS that are designed to support a range of courses and activities (Reproduced with permission from [13]) The most recent version of T-LESS was published in July 2011 and provides a set of functionality to support a wide range of courses and teaching activities. T-LESS has been developed to integrate into higher education and school classroom systems that support some form of learning management system (LMS), a learning management platform or some other type of e-learning platform. However, unlike some of the other courses, Vetiver has developed T-LESS to provide a range of functionality that will be available regardless of the technology used. This includes the ability to create, store and provide support for a range of e-resources and e-learning activities such as virtual learning environments, videos, presentations, interactive quizzes, web tutorials, online assignments and activities, student feedback and discussion forums, and more. It is envisaged that by developing the functionality in T-LESS to support all of these activities in any e-learning system, the resulting product will be very adaptable, flexible and applicable across the curriculum, irrespective of the technology that is employed. The T-LESS system is currently in a pilot and final development stage. Once the functionality is tested and ready to go into production, the process of installing and implementing the system into classrooms will begin. The aim is to get the system up and running within four to six months and to then run a series of courses in the tertiary sector, targeting the postgraduate and early career development sectors. The New T-LESS Product T-LESS has been developed to provide a range of functionality for a range of courses and activities. It will integrate with existing classroom and learning management systems as well as any e-learning system that is in use, including a LMS, a learning management platform, or another type of e-learning platform. Some of the features currently available in the product include:An interactive and easily adaptable interface A set of features that can be embedded into existing classroom activities, assignments and forums A new assessment delivery system The ability to create and provide support for a wide range of e-learning and e-resource activities The ability to incorporate multimedia resources and
