education apps for teachers

Month: July 2016 I had the honor of co-presenting at TEDxMaine in September 2015. I used to love to be invited to give talks at TEDx events, but then I got older and was worried I might not be able to speak or be entertaining enough to make up for it. Then I joined the TEDxMaine team and my first experience speaking at a TEDx event was at TEDxMaine. It didn’t disappoint. It is the first time my TEDx talk has been in full and it felt like I was finally at home. While there were no technical difficulties, I was nervous. This was my first time speaking publicly and I was doing a talk on an idea I had been thinking about for years. I felt so inspired when one of the speakers, the president of the Maine Public Affairs Foundation, said she had watched the live stream of my talk (I couldn’t find the actual video yet). So even though I had done this talk for TEDxMaine five months before the event, it was still exciting to hear how much it impacted her and her organization. When I finished, a young woman, with a kind but serious look on her face, gave me a hug. She told me she liked my talk. Then, in a complete surprise, the president of TEDxMaine gave me a big hug and told me I was the first speaker to mention one of her biggest frustrations about the state of education in Maine – how long the school year takes. Wow. As I walked into the conference room where I was going to give my talk, a familiar but good friend of mine approached me and said he was very happy to see me there. A short time later, a fellow member of TEDxMaine gave me a high five. When I turned to give a wave back to my friend, he gave me a big hug. It was an amazing moment, and I couldn’t have imagined that my friends and strangers who were watching me speak about my childhood experience would have felt so much joy from my talk In our family, when someone has a really good day, we like to call it a “lobster day”. This is a reference to the lobster we get from a friend who brings it in, still alive and whole. We call this lobster a “lobster day” because we were always so poor as kids, and we usually had a “lobster day” for one meal each week. The idea is that we think of how good it is to have an abundance in our lives, and we take great pleasure in the idea that someone who is a friend has provided us with food that was so incredibly good. Because of that, we think about all the good things that would happen to us if we had one more lobster in our home. The lobster is the symbol of abundance and good luck. The fact that you know about lobsters or know someone who has a lobster is supposed to be a good sign that the world is a good place, and you are in a good place. This idea is not unique to our family, nor is it a uniquely Canadian idea. There are many cultures around the world that share this idea, and I think it is one of the more endearing and simple ways to build community and create good in the world. In my talk, I described my childhood lobster day, and I wrote down the experiences I have had in the past year. I have a family who is proud of the way my life is going, and I have a school that I am very excited about working in. I would like to share a few things that I have noticed about my life. What I notice about my life is that there are too many things that are good. The first is the wonderful support and acceptance from my family. I
