Menu Tag Archives: school The school year will be over in 4 more days! That means we will be finishing up the last of our lessons and projects and getting ready for summer break. Here are some of the highlights for me. First, let me start by saying I am truly thankful for this opportunity to teach at a great private school and work with some amazing kids. The year flew by for me. Now that I look back I can see that there was a lot of really wonderful learning that took place. My favorite activity of the year was the school yearbook. I was a page coordinator for the yearbook and had to help assemble the pages and layout the book. It was an awesome experience for me. I got to see the photos, write a section and layout it all. It felt really rewarding.Another favorite was the class presentations. Every month in April the teacher and I had the opportunity to work with the fourth grade students on a presentation that was all about a new language. I am so thankful for the work the teacher put into helping me plan these. Each one was really well written, researched and informative. The final favorite was the summer reading. At the beginning of the year we had to assign a book and I ended up with “Howl” by Allen Ginsberg. Then during the summer I took my students to read and discuss “Howl”. I was so glad to have the opportunity to do this because I know they will remember it and that it will help them when they get back to school in August. We were able to do many awesome summer activities, I just can’t write about them all. We visited the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and got to take a field trip to the Smithsonian Museum. We visited Arlington Cemetery. I was able to visit a few museums and we went on field trips to the National Zoo, Smithsonian and the Navy Yard. We had a blast. We even went to camp and had fun adventures like hiking and visiting Civil War battlefields. I can’t wait to do it all again next year. This is the one year where I have found it harder than ever to leave the school at the end of the year. I love working with kids. I love the curriculum and the learning that happens. But now I am ready to do it all again. I am ready to go back to homeschooling and teaching all the fun lessons that I have to share with my family. I am really looking forward to it. I know it will be a great adventure. After almost a year of teaching, I am ready to get back to working with kids in a classroom setting. My school year is winding down and I am ready to go back to a normal schedule. I am looking forward to having summer break. I know it is going to be so much fun! Here are some of the highlights of the year. The highlight of the year for me was the final presentations. We all had to write a section and do a bit of research to make a presentation. The end of the year was amazing because we were able to present to a judge and a group of parents. I felt really proud that I was able to put all of my efforts together and put it all in front of a judge. It was really cool. The first of my favorite activities of the year was our field trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. We got to go in the beginning of the year and I loved it. I got to see the exhibits and learn more about African American history. I am definitely looking forward to having more field trips! Another favorite activity of the year was the school yearbook. I got to help a lot with putting the pages together and the layout of the yearbook. I am so glad that I was able
