A number of years ago we ran an experiment in our state in which we took an existing classroom curriculum and added to it new material on how teachers should teach our state’s Core standards. This was done by changing the materials from static books to interactive, digital, multimedia resources that teachers could use in their classrooms. Here is what we learned. I’ve been a bit quiet on my blog recently because the reason is that I’m busy in my classroom right now creating a digital learning platform for the students that will be using for the next year. This project has been an incredible experience and has been very challenging at times. It has been incredibly rewarding, too.When I was doing my research, I learned a number of things that helped me make my curriculum. I took advantage of my state’s resources and found a number of curriculum that already made use of the Core standards. I had never seen these programs before. I had an idea of what I wanted to teach but not a way to approach the process. I had no idea what teachers were doing with the core standards or how they used them. This was a bit of a surprise and I would have expected to have come across these materials first. When I got started I started with one core concept from each standard. By starting with a few principles and not a ton of information I could use these programs to teach my students that had been identified as having learning disabilities. They could learn the principle from the materials and then apply that to a topic we were studying in a topic area they were struggling with. This allowed me to build the curriculum without taking a ton of time to find specific learning materials or create the learning materials myself.I took advantage of many other resources as well, including my network of fellow teachers. If I couldn’t find a specific resource on the topic that was useful, I would find someone in my network of teachers to ask for advice on what to do. I used a lot of information from Google, which was a great source of ideas and ideas about how I might make the learning materials. I was able to get a head start on the project by finding materials and teaching materials that teachers were already using. This was probably my biggest surprise. I thought I would have to create my own materials. It was much easier to find materials that were already out there and use those. In my area I’m in charge of all the middle school teaching so when I started my project I didn’t really have to figure out how to do things in the way that my middle school teachers do them. We are an innovative group and as I said earlier I had a lot of ideas about how I wanted to do things but at the same time it was very frustrating at times that I would have some idea of what we should be doing and yet I would be at a loss as
