lesson plan for teachers

 lesson plan for teachers:

The lesson plan below contains several activities that will help teachers explore how art can inspire change in their lives. Using art in this way is especially helpful for those who find it challenging to think about how their daily actions can contribute to social change. As you look at this lesson plan, imagine that you are participating in a group art project. Your students will explore how they can use their art to promote and celebrate diversity. Activity 1: Students make their own “art” about their experiences. As a class, brainstorm a list of words to describe different people in your world. In an interactive notebook, students make a “poster” about these words. Using colors that reflect their words, they paint, paste, cut, or draw their words onto a page. They decorate the poster with their favorite images. At the end of the art activity, they may wish to take a photo of their poster, add a title, and then add the photo to Instagram.Activity 2: Students choose two words to create artwork about.Ask students to choose one word that they will paint about. After that, ask them to think about what they could paint about. Ask students to come up with at least 10 different things they could paint about For a little more practice, ask students to choose two words they could paint about. They may choose to paint two colors, like one word being red and the other being green. Or they may want to paint a flower that represents one of their words.Activity 3: Students can create a “diversity poster” using any of their art work.Once students have completed their painting or cut-outs, ask them to choose at least two of their art pieces to create a diversity poster. Students may want to use their poster as a visual guide or a canvas. They may decide to have the art students create a collage on construction paper with their art. Students can glue their art pieces onto their diversity poster. They can either make the art pop off of their diversity poster, or they may decide to include a title. The finished diversity poster may look something like this:Activity 4: Students can add words of their own to the diversity poster. Ask students to add the title of their poster to their art, using their favorite words. They can write their title on a piece of paper, glue it onto their art, or they can simply have their poster displayed as a framed piece. As students finish their art, they can display their art as a collage on the board or wall.Activity 5: Students choose a word to paint. After students have been completing their paintings, ask them to think of a word or phrase that they have not painted yet. Ask students to add this word to their work. After the art activity,
